Oh what a novelty the glow in the dark board has been. Parker brothers managed to combine serious Ouija use with a novelty purpose.

Currently in the world only two manufacturers are having a go at the Glow in the dark. Parker brothers (Hasbro) and Papa’s toys in Canada. Please note Glow in the  dark is being manufactured in Argentina under license from Parker brothers USA.

Usage of the trade mark or license Ouija is unable to be used in some countries ( Australia is one) hence the Canadian board may only be sold in those countries not effected by the trademark laws.

But well before that a little know company in the 1940′s produced a Glow in the Dark.

They were E.J.Brant based in San Fransisco USA.

E.J. Brant Company 1945
San Francisco II, California
COPR. VELVETONE CO. S.F. 1945

The board was the Luminous Velco ( pictured).

Recently this board sold for over $1500 USD and has proven to be a rare board.

In todays world of mass production and little artistic thought the two glow in the dark boards offer a cheap intro to the world of Ouija.

Glow wise the Pap’as toys  only the letters glow where as the Parker brothers the board glows highlighting the letters.

In the above video I have tried to demonstrate as quickly as possible the uses and pitfalls. On a positive note , if you want to Ouija in the dark this is still one of the best ways.

Below , poor quality South American Glow in the Dark, Problem one…they don’t glow!argentina Ouija
